If there is no key for your reader under the "Readers" key, applications will not be aware of an available reader. We are going to add the reference to the device like this: Create a new text file with Notepad and copy/paste the text below.
Windows Registry Editor Version5.00
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\Calais\Readers\[YOUR READER NAME] 0]
"Device"="[YOUR READER NAME] 0"
Replace [YOUR READER NAME] by the actual name of your reader, as it is given in the device manager.
Save the file under c:\temp, call it AddReader.reg.
Open the file explorer and go to c:\temp.
Double click AddReader.reg to create the reference to your reader in the registry.
Go back to Regedit and check if your reader has been added under: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\Calais\Readers
If there is still no key for your reader, you probably have some permission restrictions on the "Readers" key. Please report this issue to your local IT department for advices.
If the key was correctly created but you are still not able to see the smart card reader in your application, please follow this troubleshooter: http://support.gemalto.com/index.php?id=readers_tokens_troubleshooter
