Applies to

IDPrime .NET card

Content

There are a few different ways to import a P12 (.pfx) file onto the IDPrime .NET card

  1. Using certutil tool
    Configure the following registry keys.
    • HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\Defaults\Provider\Microsoft Base Smart Card Crypto Provider\AllowPrivateExchangeKeyImport=DWORD:0x1
    • HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Cryptography\Defaults\Provider\Microsoft Base Smart Card CryptoProvider\AllowPrivateSignatureKeyImport=DWORD:0x1

    Then, in the command window, run the following certutil command.

    certutil -csp "Microsoft Base Smart Card Crypto Provider" -importpfx {PFXfile}

    The certutil-version that ships with Windows Server 2003 SP1 or a later Windows version is required to perform the operation. The certutil is also a part of the Windows 2003 administration tools, which can be installed on the XP machine. (Available at http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=16770)

  2. Using Minidriver manager
    • Log onto the card as a user
    • Right click on one of the empty containers as shown below.
      dot_net
    • Browse to the directory where you have a .pfx file.
    • Enter the password for the .pfx file and the container name
      dot_net_2
    • Click OK
  3. There are other online utilities that allow you to import the P12 file such as DAS service. For more details on the DAS service, please visit http://www.gemalto.com/products/das/.
