In a remote environment the smart card use is not simple. The smart card is plugged locally on the client and the processing is performed remotely. The performance can vary extensively depending on your network latency, packet loss rate... Please refer to the Classic Client Administrator guide for more information.
In a remote environment you must install components on both the clients and the server.
On the server side
Install Classic Client
On the client side
Install only the driver of the smart card reader. Make sure that no version of GemSafe or Classic Client is installed.
You can download latest Gemalto drivers from here.
If your network does not have sufficient performances you may want to install Classic Client on the client computers instead of the server. Before doing so make sure that Classic Client has been uninstalled from the server.
Having a card middleware installed on both a server and client is not a supported configuration. It can lead to intermittent issues that are often difficult to troubleshoot.
Modifications to the operating system can lead to unrecoverable errors. Modifications are reserved to advanced users. If you do not feel confident we recommend creating a System Restore Point before performing changes.
